In a time like this where some of us have little or no work to do like we did before when work and school rota’s were normal it can be very easy to become distracted; allow our minds to become idle. Take heed because I’m sure you have heard the saying “an idle mind is the devil’s playground.”
“Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.” – Proverbs 4:23. In other words carefully guard your thoughts because are the source of what is carried out in your life.
How do you overcome distractions?
- Always assess your thoughts, continually attempt to verify them. Are they true? Honest? Of a good report? “Finally, my friends, keep your minds on whatever is true, pure, right, holy, friendly, and proper. Don’t ever stop thinking about what is truly worthwhile and worthy of praise.” – Philippians 4:8 CEV.
- Read the word of God! “Blessed are the undefiled in the way, Who walk in the law of the LORD! Blessed are those who keep His testimonies, Who seek Him with the whole heart! They also do no iniquity; They walk in His ways. You have commanded us To keep Your precepts diligently. Oh, that my ways were directed To keep Your statutes!” – Psalms 119:1-5
What is the thing that God has told you to focus on during this period? Time is something we don’t get back and in this period where it may seem full of negativity, in hindsight God has blessed us with free time, time to pursue the things He has called us to.
